Job Purpose
|
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences, at the University of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant / Associate / Professor commencing September 2017.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences with an outstanding record of academic and research performance.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Teach a range of core courses related to environmental health and pollution in general with emphasis on food safety management and occupational hygiene and safety for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise senior students for their graduation projects.
- Administer students during their field training.
- Evaluate student's learning using various methods of assessments.
- Advise students on academic matters.
- Active participation in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean.
- Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected.

Required Skills
|
- Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Office applications).
- Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential
|
|
Desirable Requirements
|
- The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in teaching in the field.
- Experience in teaching courses related to environmental health and pollution.
- Experience in teaching courses related to food safety management, occupational hygiene and safety is highly desirable
- Demonstrable research productivity supported by a visible publication record.
- Significant teaching and technical experience in the fields of environmental health
- Has experience in credit hour system.
- Has experience in a senior academic leadership position as a chair or director of a program at a reputable academic institute is a significant asset.
