Job Purpose

Assistant , Associate Professor of Human Physiology at Basic Medical Sciences Department College of Medicine to teach physiology for medical students within an integrated, Problem based curriculum and perform research at the University Research Center

Main accountabilities & expectations
  • Scholarship and professional development within area of expertise.
  •  Undergo training to qualify as a facilitator in the problem-based learning program.
  • Advise undergraduate students.
  • Active participation in departmental assignments, university committees, and student activities.
  • Actively participate in relevant professional activities in order to improve teaching and subject matter competence.
  • Serve on faculty committees as appointed or elected.
  • Participate in other activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean.

Preferred Qualification & Experience PhD (  or equivalent ) in Human Physiology .

Competencies

  • Prospective applicants holding PhD or equivalent with an Excellent record of academic performance, and demonstrated expertise in Human Physiology are encouraged to apply.  Preference will be given to candidates who have :
    • The Ability to relate physiology to clinical scenarios.
    •  Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
    • Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.
    • Has good record in research
    • At least 3 years teaching experience in higher education institutions, medical/health sciences.
    • Experience in Problem Based Learning is highly desirable.
    •  Excellent oral and written communication skills (In English).
    • Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective professor-student interactions during both one-on-one (student advising) and in group (classroom) sessions.
    • Sincere interest in assisting each student within a diverse and multi-cultural community to maximize their academic, spiritual and personal potential.

 Team player that is motivated to strengthen and advance the department.
