Job Purpose

The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a full-time Laboratory Supervisor for the Electrical and Electronics workshop. The focus of the positions is research and development in the areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for maintaining hardware equipment and conducting research in the following areas:

  1. power electronics and power systems
  2. embedded systems
  3. very large scale integration (VLSI)
  4. programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  5. signal processing and analysis
  6. printed circuit board prototyping
  7. control systems

The applicant will work in a dynamic research environment with the opportunity to collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within this research theme.

Main accountabilities & expectations

Supervise the laboratory and undertake all related duties and responsibilities, which may also include:

  1. Follow all University policies regulations for safe working procedures.
  2. Conduct research in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
  3. Collect data, conduct laboratory experiments and analyze results.
  4. Write research proposals and reports, and present research findings.
  5. Collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within various research themes.
  6. Supervise or coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, students, technicians, and others in executing research projects and activities.

Preferred Qualification & Experience

  1. Minimum of bachelor (preferably master) degree in electrical and electronics engineering, or closely related discipline.
  2. Minimum of two years work experience in conducting research in multiple electrical and electronics engineering areas.
  3. Fluent in written and spoken English.
  4. Graduate from a reputable university.
  5. Proven record in publishing journal and conference research outcomes.
  6. Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
  7. Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
Job Location University of Sharjah (Main)

  1. Prior scholarly publications and research experience is a plus
  2. Excellent writing skills
  3. Excellent communication and presentation skills
  4. Fluent in English language
