Job Purpose

As part of the MSR Dept., the holder of this position provides designs and layout various university printing requirements and marketing collaterals( related to student recruitment). The holder of this position is responsible for the designs and layout of MSR reports, brochures, and other support materials, to commercial standards. The designer also provides graphic design development and conversion to non-traditional marketing-delivery methods, including web-based marketing, and multimedia.

Main accountabilities & expectations

  1. Design MSR various university marketing collateral and printing material such as University and college specific catalog , brochures and gift items.
  2. Develop multiple concepts for projects and works with the marketing specialist to develop creative and effective marketing campaigns.
  3. Lay out text and graphics into finalized page design
  4. Recommend and prepares specifications for requests for printing quotations
  5. Prepare files for printing
  6. Maintain archived project files
  7. Maintain / troubleshoot Macintosh computer systems and software
  8. Satisfy appropriate requests for approved external graphic-design support
  9. Order graphics software and images as required for department
  10. Utilize graphics and creates original graphics
  11. Prepare specifications for requests for post-printings
  12. Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by line within the expected time limit.

Operational Plans

1.       Participate in developing the department's operational and business plans and contribute in the execution of same in line with the department's strategy in order to support the achievement of the department's strategic objectives.

 

Continuous Improvement

2.       Provide input to enhance the department's policy and procedures, and follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

 

Systems, Processes and Reports

Generate relevant reports and ensure that they are prepared timely and accurately and meet the department's requirements and standards.

Required Skills
  • Skills in illustrations techniques using the respective tablets.
  • Working knowledge in web-based and multimedia graphic design.
  • Expert skills in photo manipulation and the creation of original graphics are essential.
  • Mastery of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator are essential using the Macintosh platform (ability to acquire the necessary skills to utilize other related programs are also required)
  • Use of web-based software for web page development including Dreamweaver, Captivate, Flash, Fireworks, etc. is an asset
  • Familiarity with Flash and Action Scripting
  • Should be familiar with current and progressive practice towards design & media industries and copywriting.
  • Excellent oral and written both English and Arabic is essential.
  • Good team working skills
Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher vocational qualification, in Graphic Design or related discipline, with an emphasis on the design of print-based materials.
  • Additional qualifications/training in Illustration and web-based or multimedia graphic design would be an advantage
