Job Purpose

Designs interior spaces in new and renovated buildings; meets functional and aesthetic goals; researches and purchases furnishings and fittings; and establishes corporate or individual base.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  • Designs interior spaces, including permanent architectural details and temporary elements.
  • Assesses and meets client requirements and desires through regular meetings and conferences.
  • Produces sketches, drawings, and floor plans to illustrate concepts and finish projects using computer-aided design programs (CAD, 3ds max, Sketch-up, in-design, Photoshop etc.,) and hand-drawing skills.
  • Creates idea boards to communicate design concept to clients.
  • Selects design strategies and color palettes to create cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environments.
  • Enhances and improves interior spaces functionality by modifying architectural elements and arranging furnishing, artwork, and décor.
  • Creates project budget, including materials and labor.
  • Establishes project timelines and coordinate work activity, vendor involvement and outside contractors as necessary.
  • Negotiates pricing for materials.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and outside contractors and hires out work as necessary.
  • Participates in regular networking opportunities and actively develops a client base.
  • Performs research and maintains a working knowledge of trends and new developments in the interior design and architecture worlds.
  • Adheres to national and local building and safety codes with every design element.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Works closely with various colleagues, including architects, project engineers, artists, contractors, painters, upholsterers etc.

Job Location University of Sharjah (Main)
  • Bachelor degree in Interior Design
  • Good communication skills
  • Good understanding of the English and Arabic Language (oral & written)
  • Proficient in computer-aided design programs (CAD, 3ds max)
  • Ability to workhours as needed to support the team and the work
