Job Purpose

The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support the ongoing research projects carried out by researchers working at the Sustainable Engineering Asset Management (SEAM) research group. The RA will work under the direction of coordinator of SEAM research group. The RA will plan, support, and conduct research assigned by the coordinator. Additional job responsibilities will include administrative duties as deemed necessary by the coordinator. The RA is expected to be a driven and motivated self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an interest in research activities, self-discipline, and ability to multi-task.

Main accountabilities & expectations

Research related tasks:

·         Conduct literature reviews

·         Collect and analyze data and draw conclusions on the outcomes

·         Write and publish research papers for journals and conferences

·         Assist with the preparation of research related documents, reports, and presentations


The RA will work in research projects related to one or more of the following areas:

·         Productivity and performance measurements using Life Cycle Cost/Profit (LCC/P)

·         Total Quality Management (TQM) / Quality Control (QC)

·         Maintenance strategies such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)

·         Sustainable supply chain and operations management

·         Optimization

·         Continuous Improvement

·         Applied Artificial Intelligence

·         Human Factors and Safety

·         Project management / Project portfolio management

·         Innovation

Administrative related tasks:

·         Provide general administrative support, including coordinating and scheduling meetings, room bookings, participating in committees, and taking minutes of meetings

·         Prepare the correspondences between the researchers and other units at the University

·         Ensure proper management and maintenance of project resources

·         Prepare, maintain, and update website content

Other duties as assigned by the coordinator

Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • MSc in Engineering (preferably Industrial Engineering/Engineering Management)
  •  Proficient in MS Office
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
