We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated post-doc candidate interested in research on wound healing and oral diagnostics at Sharjah Institute for Medical Research, based in the Medical & Health Sciences Colleges Campus, University of Sharjah. The project aims for developing novel approaches in stem cell and tissue engineering that will act as a focal point to prosecute, support, coordinate and disseminate basic and translational dental research related to regenerative medicine, that is applicable in clinical dentistry. A deep interest is place on bone, cartilage and neural regeneration which also explore the development of innovative tissue scaffolds. The foregoing will significantly contribute and add value to the undergraduate program, and the proposed postgraduate program at College of Dental Medicine.
The job also rotates with the Oral Microbiome Research Group and Biomaterial Science Research Group Programs, which together form an integrated multidisciplinary research cluster within the College of Dental Medicine and are based in the same Research Center. Active in-house collaborations with other research groups working on cancer, drug discovery and others may also take place.
The post-doc is thus expected to be familiar with cell and molecular biology work and additional experience working with dental pulp stem cells in tissue engineering is an advantage. The center also holds an animal research facility, and post-docs are required to have knowledge in handling small animals for research in tissue implantation studies.
The post-doc job is generally exhaustive and requires strong commitment, with extended laboratory work hours and the post-doc should be able to travel for attending courses and workshops and conferences as part of their continuous professional development. The final expected output are scientific research publications and research products that contribute to advances in healthcare.
