Job Purpose
|
The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a postdoc researcher. The researcher will work within the Center for Advanced Materials Research (CAMR) and will assist its members with related research projects on water/wastewater treatment. The researcher shall be responsible for the following.
- Complete analysis of water and wastewater samples.
- Investigation of the adsorption capacity of different commercial adsorbents such as clay, zeolite, activated carbon, etc.
- Investigation of innovative reverse/forward osmosis membranes that are capable of treating the different water/wastewater resources available in the UAE and the gulf area.
- Built-up a pilot plant for wastewater treatment based on the fabricated materials.
- Collect and analyze the necessary data and write technical reports and papers.
- Manage and evaluate existing equipment and materials.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|

- Fabricate and synthesize novel biobased materials, RO/FO membranes, etc.
- · Operate and evaluate the wastewater treatment pilot plant.
- Run experimental procedures and collect data.
- · Manage and develop appropriate experimental techniques and instrumentation.
- · Train research assistants/graduate students.
- · Publish research results and present them in conferences and meetings.
- · Follow all university policies and regulations for safe working procedures.
- Perform other relevant duties as requested by the director of CAMR.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
|
- PhD in physical chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or related areas.
- Journal publications and experience in materials related to wastewater treatment.
- Experience in nanomaterial synthesis, especially in water/wastewater treatment and membrane technology.
- Experience in material characterization (SEM/TEM, XRD, XPS, Raman, AFM).

- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals related to advanced materials for water and wastewater treatment.
- Fabrication and synthesis of materials for pretreatment of wastewater.
- Experience with the fabrication of RO/FO membranes and pilot plants' operation for water/wastewater treatment.
- Good communication and presentation skills in English.
