Job Purpose

To contribute to the development of training programs, coordinate the implementation and follow up of training and development initiatives, as well as develop, implement, monitor and measure performance, in order to enhance the University of Sharjah employees’ knowledge, skills and performance.  

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Help develop suitable learning and development methods and tools as per business needs and performance management system.
  2. Handle the online performance appraisal cycle and ensure the completion of all required appraisal forms, and act as a moderator regarding any issues or conflicts that may occur during the appraisal process.
  3. Complete the skills gap analysis by liaising with other departments and sections, and develops the annual training and development plan in alignment with the performance management process for the UoS.
  4. Highlight areas of improvement based on the annual performance appraisals, and collects information and evidence from line managers, in order to identify ways to support employees' performance and produce suitable development opportunities.
  5. Recommend suitable training providers to employees seeking development opportunities, as well as liaise between UoS and internal/external training providers (e.g. Directorate of Human Resources, Center for Continuing Education, Language Institute, etc. to nominate employees in their training programs.
  6. Review any submitted Learning Programs Applications (for both faculty and admin staff) and ensure that all L&D procedures are followed correctly.
  7. Ensure that each employee completes the training program evaluation and line manager have completed the program effectiveness evaluation, to ensure that the program goals are met and individuals are developing as planned.
  8. Participate in the development and execution of orientation, in-house training and general skills programs.
  9. Help explain learning and development procedures, objectives, effective tools and evaluation criteria to line managers and employees via phone, email, or regular individual and group awareness sessions in order to help them understand their responsibilities.
  10. Manage and update the training database as and when required ensuring the latest information is available.
  11. Help maintain and update the training and development entitlements ensuring it reflects the latest changes to the process or policies.
  12. Prepare various reports, analysis and statistics related to training and development when requested by the line manager.
  13. Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by line manager within the expected time limit.

2.      Provide input to enhance the processes and procedures that help implement the relevant best practices.

3.      Follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions accurately to ensure that job tasks are carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

4.      Generate relevant reports and ensure that they are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the department's requirements and standards.

Operate the required software/hardware accurately and effectively.

Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a relevant discipline.
  • 2-3 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • A professional Human Resources certification (such as CIPD, SHRM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
