Job Purpose
|
The
Medical Education Center at the University of Sharjah invites applicants for
full-time renewable staff position titled Educational Technologist.
The Medical Education Center, at the University of Sharjah, invites
applicants for a full-time renewable contract-based staff position titled Education Technology Specialist. Partner with
faculty to develop digital learning materials and resources, develop
technologies that support other modern learning techniques such as flip
classroom and e-learning. Coordinate training workshops for faculty, staff, and
students in the use of technology and e-learning technologies. Provide new and
innovative ideas to the Director of Medical Education unit on the strategic,
tactical and operational issues associated with the use of technology for
teaching and learning purposes. Assist in assessing the effectiveness of
course/instructional materials that are produced. Assist in research related to
the use of technology in medical education.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
Provision of technical and pedagogical support across the Medical and Health Colleges at the University on the use of technology enhanced learning. Maintain the plan of the e-learning studio and other instructional technologies to serve educational and administrative staff in the Medical education center and Medical and Health Colleges. Participate in faculty development initiatives designed to improve faculty preparedness in e-course material design, delivery, and evaluation. Meet regularly with program leadership and support staff to diagnose the course design and redevelopment needs relative to a program's growth and trajectory.

Required Skills
|
- Preferred Knowledge of medical education and Problem Based Learning curriculum, including the use of the latest technology and e-learning platform in preparing lectures and learning materials, is essential.
- Good command on the use of video camera and video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, Final cut pro, etc..)
- Provide learning technology advice and support to staff, assisting in the development, adaptation or reuse of e-learning resources
- Provide support to staff engaged in digital content development
- Work with faculty by advising them on how to develop their courses and other educational materials and being part of course/module development teams
- Craft Educational technology newsletter to convey updates, tips and other newsworthy highlights
- Assist the faculty in selecting technology that best fits their learning resources
- Provide classroom management tips to use when utilizing technology within lessons
- Assist in the design, development, and analysis of technology-based curriculum tools – such as curriculum mapping tools
- Support on the design, create and publish multimedia and online content including learning modules, tools, videos, print materials and courses for a wide-variety of audiences.
- Being familiar with different learning management system such as Blackboard
- Complete familiarity with the latest computer software and operating systems required in the use of preparing high-quality learning resource materials for the medical students.
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide information to individuals and groups.
- Develop web pages, proof read and upload content for specific modules
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and a respectful communication style.
- Experience working with faculty and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
|
Minimum requirement of Bachelor's degree in a field such as Education, Educational Technology, and Information Technology minimum of (3) years of professional working experience in an educational institute. Medical or Health sciences college is preferable
Master's in Education Technology or related field with at least one (1) year of professional working experience in a Medical or Health Sciences Colleges is also preferable
