​The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a fixed-term contract Research Assistant. Selected candidate(s) will collaborate with the members of the Distributed and Networked Systems group (within the Dept. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the Dept. of Computer Engineering) on research projects related to Computer Architecture, FPGA, communication networks, distributed systems and/or cloud computing, wireless sensor networks. Duties will include performing literature surveys, algorithm implementation and testing, writing progress reports and articles, in addition to the maintenance of the group's hardware and software equipment.

i.       Performing literature surveys in the focus areas of the Distributed and Networked Systems Research Group.

ii.      Defining research problems, and solution methodologies.

iii.    Implementing hardware and software designs.

iv.    Testing and evaluating designs/systems/algorithms/protocols.

v.      Analyzing and interpreting results.

vi.    Writing progress reports and other documentation.

vii.   Writing research articles for journals and conferences.

viii. Collaborate with research group members on research projects.

ix.    Participate in writing research proposals.

x.      Assume responsibility of the maintenance and smooth running of the research group's technical (hardware and software) equipment.

xi.    Follow all University policies regulations for safe working procedures

1. Minimum M.Sc. degree in the area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or any related discipline.
2. Knowledge in programming.
3. Knowledge in operating systems is preferred.
4. Knowledge in one or more of the areas of: computer processors and systems, communication networks, wireless networks, distributed systems and/or cloud computing.
5. Excellent command of spoken and written English language.
6. Relevant research experience.
7. Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
8. Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

1. Prior scholarly publications and research experience is a plus.
