Job Purpose
|
Manages and supports the proper functioning and development of the Computer
Engineering Laboratories. Directs the preparation of lab experiments as advised
by the course professor, coordinates the set-up of required tools, and ensures
calibration and proper functioning of equipment. Instructs and demonstrates to
students the proper techniques for Lab experiment, lab safety and the use and
operation of lab equipment. Assists faculty and graduate students in conducting
research experiments and helps undergraduate students in doing their course and
final-year projects. Trains and directs the work of students who work in the
laboratories as “student employment”. Takes initiatives to design new
experiments or find inexpensive solutions for getting robust test results.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Provides professional technical assistance to students, faculty, and other authorized laboratory users for the safe and secure usage and operation of all required Laboratory equipment.
- Provides effective technical assistance in preparing the Laboratories by ensuring that the required equipment is available, functional, properly assembled, and safe to use.
- Provides assistance to Faculty involved in Laboratory teaching in conducting the experiments and projects that require usage of the laboratories.
- Participates in upgrading laboratories and updating course experiments' manuals.
- Help in grading laboratory reports.
- Maintains an inventory of laboratory equipment and other material to ensure that there is enough stock to guarantee the proper functioning of the laboratories at all time.
- Periodically prepares laboratory orders for equipment, consumable material, furniture, etc. by providing lists of required items with proper specifications.
- Maintains lab in organized way.
- May perform other duties related to the nature of his/her job as assigned by the department and college.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
|
- B.Sc. in Computer Engineering or related fields; (M.Sc. degree is preferred).
- Experience in working in an academic or a higher education with similar settings (preferred).
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Motivated, can work independently as well as within a team environment in efficient way.
