The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) is seeking to hire a full-time Laboratory Officer for the newly established Robotics lab. The focus of the positions is research and development in the areas of Robotics and Computer Vision. The candidates selected for these positions will be responsible for maintaining hardware equipment and developing software in the area of Robotics and Computer Vision that include:

1. Nonlinear robotic control.
2. Robot tracking/path following.
3. Robotic identification, estimation, learning.
4. Active computer vision integration.
5. Simulating human emotion for robotics.
6. Vision-guided navigation and pursuit of non-rigid targets in motion.
7. Robust optical flow, motion segmentation and color recognition.
8. Stereo and color analysis for dynamic obstacle avoidance.

The applicants will work in a dynamic research environment with the opportunity to collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within this research theme.

Supervise the new laboratory in the area of Robotics and undertake all related duties and responsibilities, which may also include:

1.      Follow all University policies regulations for safe working procedures.

2.      Conduct research in the area of Robotics and Computer Vision.

3.      Collect field data and conduct laboratory experiments.

4.      Analyze data and work with relevant state-of-the-art specialized software packages.

5.      Write research proposals and reports, and present research findings.

6.      Collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within various research themes.

7.      Supervise or coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, students, technicians, and others in executing research projects and activities.

1. Minimum of bachelor (preferably master) degree in electrical and computer engineering with emphasis on computer vision for robotics and digital image processing.
2. Proven record in publishing journal and conference research outcomes.
3. Knowledge and experience in multiple areas of relevant research and programming language such as Matlab, Python, and C/C++.
4. Minimum two years work experience in conducting relevant research and software programming.
5. Fluent in written and spoken English.
6. Graduate from a reputable university.
7. Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
8. Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
9. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

1. Prior scholarly publications and research experience is a plus.
2. Excellent programming skills in C/C++, Python, and Matlab.
3. Excellent writing skills for academic conferences and journals.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Fluent in English language (speaking and writing).
