Job Purpose

  • To support University's marketing strategic goals by producing and delivering compelling multimedia stories including, but not limited to, videography, photography, social media and website content.
  •  Responsible for contributing to department's multimedia strategy and executing that strategy through the creation and delivery of multimedia content that supports and elevates UOS's brand, reputation and messaging


Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Typical: 1. Produce and deliver compelling videography, photography and editorial content, within prescribed deadlines, to support university news channels, web pages and special projects 2. Interact with university faculty, students, staff, alumni and other stakeholders to identify story leads and multimedia projects 3. Develop an editorial plan including goals, strategies, tactics and budget to communicate the UOS brand and its education, research and community outreach missions 4. Create comprehensive videography and photography archives for use by media and university stakeholders 5. Research social media trends and best practices; proactively contribute to department's social media strategy 6. Regularly post and manage content on university's official social media channels that elevates the university's brand and reputation 7. Monitor, analyse and report on Web and social media engagement 8. Supervise work-studies, interns and student employees 9. Perform other duties as assigned
  2. • Periodic: 1. Counsel UOS faculty and staff on multimedia best practices and strategy  2. Work, as needed, outside of business hours, including evenings, holidays or weekends

Job Specific Accountabilities

Operational Plans

Participate in developing the function's operational and business plans, and contribute in the execution of same in line with the department's strategy in order to support the achievement of the department's strategic objectives.

 

Continuous Improvement

Provide input to enhance the function's policy and procedures, and follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

 

Systems, Processes and Reports

Generate relevant reports and ensure that they are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the department's requirements and standards.


Required Skills
  • Creativity and a good understanding of technical processes.

     Multimedia Specialists are competent in using relevant software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to listen, respond and relate to clients - explaining things clearly to people who may not be very familiar with multimedia products.
  • Good organizational skills to plan projects and meet deadlines.

    As explained in the responsibilities, you will be working with other teams and creatives. This requires excellent teamwork skills and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise to reach common goals.

    As a Multimedia Specialist, you must have time-management and project-management skills.
  • Manage setting up lights, cameras and sound equipment for live video and photo shoots as needed.

Preferred Qualification & Experience

·        Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia/Visual Communications, Video Production, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, Fine Arts or closely related field

·        2 years' experience in designing and developing xAPI or SCORM/AICC compliant interactive learning assets using Adobe Captivate, Storyline or similar tools, and publishing content to a learning management system (LMS).

·        We need the applicant to present a portfolio of his work

Preferred Job Qualifications

·        Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.

·        Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects.

·        Experience designing innovative learning assets including and not limited to infographics, illustrations, virtual reality/augmented reality, audio, interactive lessons, and animations.

·        Experience designing, developing, and maintaining game-based and/or adaptive learning environments.

·        Experience developing accessible, ADA-compliant materials.

·        Familiarity with FERPA related to online learning technologies.

·        Working knowledge of CSS, HTML 5, XHTML, and JavaScript preferred.

·        Experience collaborating with SMEs and Instructional Designers on the creation of learning projects.

·        Experience with the higher education environment and working successfully with university faculty/subject matter experts.

·        Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an individual contributor and member of multiple internal and external teams and organizations.

·        Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, work independently, and meet strict deadlines
