Job Purpose

Under the general direction of the Team Leader of the AV Unit, the Technician- AV focuses on audio-visual solutions and platforms. The incumbent will help implement new installations and upgrades, as well as maintain and support the existing audio-visual systems used in academic and administrative areas

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1.   Monitoring, responding to and resolving service requests and escalations
  2. Log and follow up support enquires related to AV.
  3. Working with colleges and clients to find the root causes of issues and permanent solutions.
  4. Strong customer service skills and sound Inter-personal skills
  5. Carrying out installations, upgrades, and repairs
  6. Assist follow up with AV designs for new installations and upgrades
  7. Verifying installations and repairs carried out by third-parties
  8. Providing training to client and other support teams as needed
  9. Develops and delivers short training sessions, manuals, and guidelines on the use of appropriate AV technologies.
  10. Escalate additional requirements, and system deficiencies to AV systems.
  11. Carry out regular preventive maintenance plans and regularly check status of classrooms AV equipment to ensure system functionality.  
  12. Identifying areas requiring improvements and developing solutions
  13. Understand schematics, technical drawings, and equipment list
  14. Basic knowledge for control system programming and DSP system programming
  15. Provide programming support and troubleshooting as required

      16-  Other duties as required or assigned

Job Specific Accountabilities

Operational Plans

Participate in developing the department's operational and business plans, and contribute in the execution of same in line with the department's strategy in order to support the achievement of the department's strategic objectives.

 

Continuous Improvement

Provide input to enhance the department's policy and procedures, and follow all relevant processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

 

Systems, Processes and Reports

Generate relevant reports and ensure that they are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the department's requirements and standards.


Required Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in business in both Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repairing skills with AV systems and IP networks, have strong attention to detail, and the ability to decipher and follow design plans, business professionalism, technical acumen, customer service, communication with all levels, and being highly organized.
  • General Understanding of the ITIL best practices 


Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent with work experience in the AV commercial industry and IP network.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in Educational institutions, and must be familiar with, but not limited to Crestron, Extron, Biamp ClearOne and AV over IP products
  • Must be AVIXA CTS certified, Crestron/Extron programmer – certifications will be verified.
