Job Purpose
|
Requested is a Professor of family medicine to chair the department of Family
and Community Medicine and Behavioral Sciences. Besides teaching medical
students, he/she will take all the duties and responsibilities of the
administrative role of the chairman. This includes academic, research and
community service functions.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Ensures the implementation of the educational program as per the college of medicine curriculum for medical students.
- Assigns teaching responsibilities for all faculties in the Department to deliver a professional undergraduate clinical training according to the rules and regulations of the University.
- Contributes to the teaching load of the Department.
- Recommends academic appointment and recruitment of new faculty in the Department
- Provides opportunity to all faculty for professional advancement and assisting each member of the faculty in achieving his or her own optimal development in teaching, scholarly activity, and research.
- Conducts annual evaluations of department's faculty and staff as required by the university, and making the necessary recommendations to the Dean.
- Reviews the departmental applicants for promotion and formulates recommendations for the Academic Promotion Committee in the university.
- Manages the departmental budget as directed by the Dean in accordance with university rules and regulations.
- Maintains records and prepares reports as required by the college or the university.
- Contribute and encourage research activity in the Department and involve all faculty to participate in collaborative research projects.
- Set plans and contribute to the community service role of the college and university

Desirable Requirements
|
MB,BS ( Bachelor Degree from A Medical college)
PhD or equivalent in Family Medicine
(preferred clinical qualifications (e.g. Fellowship of the Royal College of UK, Canada, American Board certificate)
