Assistant Professor in Pharmacology and Toxicology

Job Purpose

Teaching of different graduate and undergraduate pharmacology and toxicology courses and participation in the supervision of students.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Participation in didactic, computational, and laboratory teaching activities covering pharmacology, and related courses within the UoS- College of Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Health Sciences curriculum as determined by the Department Chair for undergraduate students and postgraduate students.
  2. Perform and grade all types of exams, perform exam analysis and write assessment reports.
  3. Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the College of Pharmacy.
  4. Supervision of post-graduate students
  5. Communicate teaching and research activities through frequent and effective communication with the Department Chair.
  6. Conduct research in the field of pharmacology and engage in team-based research in the area of pharmacology.
  7. Procure and/or maintain an externally funded research projects in pharmacology or areas related to the discipline.
  8. Publish scientific findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international meetings.
  9. Be involved in curriculum development and quality assurance activities related to the department and the college.
  10. Actively participate in committees within the department, college, University and in professional and governmental organizations.
  11. Carry out any other tasks related to the Course/ Department/College/University assigned to him/her by the head of department or the dean of the college.

Required Skills
  1. Have a commitment to excellence in teaching and training of pharmacology and toxicology sciences for undergraduate and graduate students.
  2. Ability and dedication to develop an externally funded research projects.

Desirable Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (a must)
  2. Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology (a must)
