Job Purpose
|
To undertake a variety of tasks related to setting up, installing, upgrading, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment at the University of Sharjah. As well as maintain and support the existing audio-visual systems used in academic and administrative areas, as per the approved technical specifications and UoS safety standards.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as meetings, presentations, and conferences.
- Coordinate with event organizer(s) to establish timings, cues and any other required directions.
- Carry out routine inspections of the multimedia rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms, and theaters, as well as perform necessary repairs and report all issues to the line manager.
- Handle daily relevant requests and issue making sure all installations and repairs have been resolved correctly and in a timely fashion.
- Keep records of all requests (pending and completed) and update them regularly.
- Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of audio and video equipment.
- Request replacement parts and materials, and ensure that adequate supply is always available.
- Assist contractors/suppliers/engineers in designing and implementing new AV installations and upgrades.
- Prepare technical and incident reports, as well as escalate any equipment/system issues to the line manager.
- Assist in Identifying areas and locations that require improvements and help provide suitable solutions.
- Ensure that Health and Safety standards are implemented at all times, and reporting any matters of concern to the line manager and/or related personnel in order to take action.

- Good knowledge of current health and safety regulations.
- Good knowledge in MS office applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and repairing skills with AV systems and IP networks.
- Ability to decipher and follow design plans.
- General Understanding of the ITIL best practices.
- Mathematical ability for making measurements and estimates.
- Attention to detail.
- The ability to work with technical instructions, maps and diagrams.
- Ability to use electrical and hand tools.
- Ability to handle manual work and stamina to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Good knowledge in MS office applications.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Diploma/Certificate in Electrical, A/V field, or any related discipline.
- 2-4 years of UAE experience in similar role, with experience in AV commercial industry and IP network preferably in higher education institutions.
- AVIXA CTS certified, Crestron/Extron programmer
- Priority is to UAE Nationals.
