Job Purpose
|
To enhance the growth and development of students by providing social, cultural, recreational and educational activities to engage them with the University of Sharjah and the community.
|
Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Welcome new students by planning, organizing and executing University events and arranging tours and activities to ensure their orientation.
- Promote events by using a variety of social media tools to encourage students to participate in such events.
- Organize, schedule and supervise student activities at the University such as cultural, heritage, and recreational programs to maintain a positive environment between students.
- Participate in the organization and preparation of graduation ceremonies, including correspondents, gown distributions, invitations, decorations, etc.
- Promote the University by preparing announcements and news reports on events related to the Deanship and the University in order to maintain the positive image of the University.
- Encourage students to participate and compete in local and international events and competitions as well as in other Universities, in order to build and maintain a positive spirit.
- Maintain files on student cultural clubs in the University by updating the data continuously and following up with club leaders regarding their progress and student elections in order to ensure transparency in the procedures.
- Help organize international student trips and assist students in their travel plans through completing documentation for student visas, and other arrangements for trips outside the country.
- Promote students' activities by organizing, scheduling and supervising student cultural and recreational programs to maintain a positive environment between students.
- Announce events by preparing and circulating publications related to future events and activities, and assists in preparing and editing flyers, posters, brochures, and rollups to market the events and encourage students to participate.
- Prepare relevant data, statistics and reports related to student activities when requested by line manager.

Required Skills
|
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks.
- Strong customer service skills and public relation skills along with the ability to work individually and as a team member.
- Able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with students from different backgrounds and cultures.
- High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
- Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent proficiency in MS office applications.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of bachelor's in Sociology, Social Services, Public Relations or a relevant discipline.
- 2-4 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority is to UAE Nationals.
