Job Purpose
|
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor commencing September 2022
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences with an outstanding record of academic and research performance.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Teach a range of core courses related to environmental health sciences in general with emphasis on occupational health and safety; occupational hygiene; Occupational Hygiene Sampling, Analysis, and Survey; physical hazards, oil and gas hazards, etc. for undergraduate and graduate students
- Supervise senior and graduate students in their graduation projects and dissertations
- Actively engage in research and community service
- Administer students during their field training
- Evaluate students' learning using various methods of assessments
- Advise students on academic matters
- Actively participate in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean
- Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected

Required Skills
|
- Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Very good computer skills (especially Microsoft Office applications)

Desirable Requirements
|
- The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences (preferably Occupational Health/Hygiene discipline)
- Minimum 5 years' experience of teaching in the field
- Experience in teaching courses related to environmental and occupational health
- Experience in teaching courses related to occupational health and safety; occupational hygiene; Occupational Hygiene Sampling, Analysis, and Survey; physical hazards, oil and gas hazards, etc. is highly desirable
- Evidence of active contributions to his/her field through publishing in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, seminars, and other forums
- Has experience in credit hour system
