Job Purpose

Teaching on undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting research, serve the community. 

Main accountabilities & expectations

The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at the University of Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor commencing August 2022. The applicant is expected to perform the following duties:

 

  1. Teach courses of Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels 
  2. Secure internal and external research grants and lead active research projects
  3. Supervise undergraduate and graduate students' projects in Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering
  4. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
  5. Contribute to the development of the undergraduate and graduate programs in the department
  6. Engage in community services, including serving the profession
  7. Contribute to the preparation of undergraduate and graduate programs accreditation

Required Skills
  • Ability to teach a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate subjects in Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to secure research funds
  • Experience in application for program accreditation.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of Engineering software related to Nuclear and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence either in teaching or research will be a plus. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Minimum qualification includes a PhD degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field from a reputable university. Applicants having a BSc in Mechanical Engineering with higher degrees in Nuclear Engineering in the area of Reactor Thermal hydraulics or Reactor Design will have an advantage.
  • Candidates are expected to have an excellent record of accomplishment in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, research, high quality publications and leadership of funded research projects.
  • Advantage will be given to candidates with evidence of capability to supervise graduate students.
  • Teaching and research experience in highly ranked universities is preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills are required.
