Job Purpose

To plan and oversee various IT related projects at the University of Sharjah, and to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. As well as plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed the entire duration of the project.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Participate in the strategic planning process to ensure a clear understanding of implementation considerations as priorities are being set.
  2. Create and execute project work plans and revises them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  3. Identify resources needed, assign individual responsibilities and manage project budgets.
  4. Manage day-to-day operations of projects, as well as ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.
  5. Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques, and keep stakeholders informed regarding these changes.
  6. Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  7. Promote and facilitate positive interactions with key stakeholders and users, as well as recommend and/or implement changes in policies or procedures for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
  8. Coordinate between internal stakeholders and third parties/vendors/suppliers to ensure flawless execution of projects.
  9. Use various methodologies and technologies to track and measure project performance, and help identify areas for improvement.
  10. Perform risk management analysis to minimize project risks, as well as utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  11. Report frequently to the upper-level management on project status, resource needs, plans, and relevant issues and concerns.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • 6-8 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
