Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineering (EE) Department at the University of Sharjah (UOS) invites applications for a faculty position in Digital Electronics, Communication Engineering, Power Electronics and Control Systems, and Signal and Image Processing commencing September 2022. Qualified candidates at the levels of Assistant or Associate Professor are encouraged to apply. The applied candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising/supervision at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Moreover, he/she is expected to have a strong research track, mainly in the field of smart control systems that enables him/her to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research projects, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the University.
The EE Department at UOS is committed to excellence in teaching, research and services to the university and community. It has ABET accredited B.Sc. undergraduate program in in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It has also a M.Sc. program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and a PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The application package should include a cover letter, a detailed resume, a brief description of current/future research activities, teaching philosophy, and a list of the taught courses. English is the language of instruction and communication in UOS. Screening of applications will start Jan 2022 and it will continue until the position is filled.

Main accountabilities & expectations

- Teaching both undergraduates and graduate courses.
- Supervising graduate students.
- Carrying research in his/her area of specialization.
- Conducting examinations.
- Academic advising.
- Helping students in Lab experiments as part of senior design projects and other research projects.

Desirable Requirements
|
-PhD in Electrical Engineering from a reputable University
-Demonstrate a solid research record, and the capability of teaching courses in their areas of expertise, in addition to Electrical Engineering core courses.
