Job Purpose

​

The Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor/ Professor commencing September 2022.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics with an outstanding record of academic and research performance. The candidate for the position will teach basically biostatistics and epidemiology and other courses related to public health/health management.
Main accountabilities & expectations
  • Teaching a range of core courses related to biostatistics and epidemiology for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Teaching experiences in other courses related to public health/health management.
  • Supervise senior and graduate students in their graduation projects and dissertations
  • Evaluate students' learning using various methods of assessments
  • Advice students on academic matters
  • Actively participate in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean
  • Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected
  • Actively engage in research and community services
  • Previous experiences in curriculum development and academic programs accreditation

Desirable Requirements

  • The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of teaching in a well-recognized university
  • Previous experience in teaching courses related to any of the public health disciplines, including health management/health promotion/health informatics/ health economics and finance/ quality of care
  • Evidence of active contributions to his/her field through publishing in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, seminars, and other forums
  • A record of administrative and leadership experience in academic institutions
