Job Purpose
|
To provide high-quality technical support services and expertise to stakeholders in various colleges and administrative departments at the University of Sharjah in order to meet their system/application needs and requirements by developing programs and software applications in fields: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics to support interdisciplinary teaching activities.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Create and develop the application services procedures, and suggest improvements when needed in accordance with UoS bylaws and best practices. As well as provide technical support when setting up hardware/software experiments and demos for the concerned colleges/departments.
- Consult with users (stores, procurement, accounting, budget, etc.) regarding applications programming requests, applications training, user support and troubleshooting.
- Analyze user applications programming requests related to overall program goals and system functionality and recommends solutions.
- Support users by identifying, evaluating, selecting, supporting and maintaining systems solutions to ensure the availability and usability of the software solutions. As well as provide training to the users to maintain business continuity.
- Conduct document and applications tests, evaluate results and modify software/applications to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, and upgrade interfaces when needed.
- Design and develop software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and design consequences. As well as implement and maintain compliance with current security and service protocols and standards.
- Prepare project status reports in order to keep both the line manager and client updated about related projects and other issues.
- Compile and assess user feedback to improve software performance as well as to recommend improvements to existing software products
- Train, coach, and provide technical/practical expertise regarding any job-related processes and provide assistance when needed.
- Keep up to date with new developments and advancements in the market in order to suggest suitable solutions and upgrades at the university and serve users better.
- Prepare any related technical reports, analyses, and statistics when requested by the line manager.

Required Skills
|
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Proficiency in popular coding languages including Python, Java, and C++.
- Excellent knowledge of the software development life-cycle.
- Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks.
- Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
- Good experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, data science, cyber security applications, and HW/SW setup.
- Able to understand the meaning of common error messages and explain them to users in simple language.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the problem is and explain the solution.
- Excellent customer services skills.
- High integrity and openness combined with a commitment to good governance.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
|
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related discipline.
- 6-8 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
- Professional qualifications in software development with C++ or Python are required.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related discipline is a plus.
- Priority is to UAE Nationals.
