Job Purpose

To monitor and provide support to the Research Funding Department to make sure it meets the requirements of the UOS standards and manage the research grants’ budgets in terms of any required financial or administrative aspects.

Main accountabilities & expectations

1. Follow up research projects progress and research groups from the early planning stages to project completion, and ensure the compliance with the Executive Research Regulations of the University.

2. Review submitted research project proposals, through evaluating content, financial resources, as well as analysis various sets of data and verifying that information on databases remains secure.

3. Verify research projects details in term of accuracy and compiling, as well as sorting research project details on research software, in order to prepare source data i.e. reports and multi-purpose lists.

4. Monitor data in research software by updating entered data and obtaining further information about incomplete entered data.

5. Manage and overview the research projects budgets and expense control activities, along with reviewing financial reports, and preforming invoice processing and approved expenditures.

6. Analysis and resolve research issues in a timely and accurate manner, and report to the Chair when its required.

7. Keep a logbooks / records of projects activities and tasks, and communicate with the researchers and research assistants to verify that all projects activities are on schedule.

8. Detect and track any software defects or inconsistencies, and refer it to the Information Technology Centre when it is needed.

9. Coordinate all correspondence, memos and internal/external circulars related to research projects, follow up with concerned entities for response and inform the Chair with updates.

10. Assist in preparing various reports, data collection, analysis and statistics requested by the line manager.

Preferred Qualification & Experience

§ Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

§ 2-4 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.

§ Priority is to UAE Nationals.
