Job Purpose
|
To support the University of Sharjah with the infrastructure and operations services, to ensure that the Information Technology Center supports the academic and administration functions at the University in order to create a cutting-edge digitalized campus for the university's community. As well as manage, develop and motivate the section's team members.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Develop the Information Technology (IT) strategy in collaboration with the Director of IT and other heads, ensuring key initiatives are aligned to the University's strategic plan and communicated to the Department.
- Collaborate with other IT Section Heads to identify opportunities for improvement where technology can be introduced/optimized to realize efficiencies, support management decision making and create cost savings.
- Liaise with the University Colleges/Departments and serve as a representative of the section in the areas of infrastructure and operations to improve and maintain high levels of operations performance.
- Ensure an effective support service is in place and operational, in order to provide staff and students with access to UoS's IT services, whilst maintaining hardware and software; and responding efficiently to technical issues.
- Monitor day-to-day Infrastructure and Operations activities and ensure that business processes and workflows are executed correctly and efficiently. As well as ensure that job tasks are distributed between team members fairly and professionally.
- Provide leadership to the Infrastructure and Operations team in order to build and develop their organizational capabilities, provide them with development opportunities, as well as report on their performance.
- Supervise the overall design, implementation, administration and maintenance of the information technology infrastructure that includes internet service, network, telecom, datacenter and security systems ensuring the fulfillment of the users' needs.
- Participate in the preparation of the department's annual budget, in collaboration with the director and other heads, and track the section's expenditures and ensuring they are within the limits of the budget.
- Remain abreast with latest local, regional, and global IT-related updates in order to provide the University with updated trends and ideas, and help evaluate the IT Center to upgrade its service as and when necessary.
- Prepare various reports, analysis and statistics related to the Infrastructure and Operations section when requested.
