Job Purpose

To collaborate with faculty and administrative staff of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education to promote innovative pedagogies through the use of technology and to support faculty members at the University of Sharjah with the learning management system, communication technologies, and the development of audiovisual learning resources.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Consult with faculty members across the Academic Colleges to develop new digital learning materials, resources and technologies such as flip classroom and e-learning techniques to improve teaching and student learning experiences.
  2. Develop, and facilitate training sessions and tutorials for faculty members and administrative staff in creating instructional material: courses, curriculum, student guides, and new learning techniques.
  3. Collaborate with faculty members to create timely and effective innovative courses, digital learning materials, and to develop technologies that support other learning initiatives such as contextual learning and academic assessment.
  4. Assist faculty members across the UoS in redesigning content to ensure it matches the learner's needs and transferring courses into online formats using visual, audio, and interactive learning tools.
  5. Collaborate with media and webinar support specialists to troubleshoot technical problems and brainstorm creative solutions for the delivery of live sessions.
  6. Analyze and apply tested instructional design theories, methods, and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design 
  7. Conducts needs assessment to identify learning objectives, assess the effectiveness of course/instructional materials, and determine training solutions and other performance enhancement solutions.
  8. Consult and conduct research with the faculty members/ subjects experts to determine the efficiency of their course designs and learning deliverables.
  9. Provide advice and suggestion to the Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education on the strategic, tactical, and operational issues associated with the use of technology for teaching and learning purposes.
  10. Manage the development process of assigned courses/ projects and provide periodic progress reports on courses and projects.
  11. Prepare various reports, analyses, and statistics related to the Faculty Development Section when requested by the line manager.

Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a relevant discipline.
  • A Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • 6-8 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
