Job Purpose
|
The Sustainable Construction Materials and Structural Systems Research Group at the University of Sharjah invites applications to fill full-time Research Assistant Position. The focus of the position is to assist the research group members in conducting research in the area of Sustainable Construction Materials and Structural Systems. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for conducting research in the following specific areas:
- Structural and earthquake/geotechnical engineering,
- Characterization of civil engineering materials.
The applicant will have opportunity to work on exciting research projects with renowned researchers in the field.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Conduct research in the area of civil engineering materials and structural systems
- Conduct laboratory experiments
- Analyze structural members and composite materials using nonlinear finite element analysis software packages.
- Write research proposals and reports, and present research findings.
- Collaborate across multiple projects and research faculty within various research themes
- Supervise or coordinate the work of graduate research assistants, students, technicians, and others in executing research projects and activities.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of bachelor (preferably master for the Research Assistant position) degree in civil engineering with emphasis on materials and structural systems.
- Knowledge and experience in multiple areas of relevant research.
- Two years work experience in conducting relevant research.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Graduate from a reputable university.
- Proven record in publishing research outcomes in journals, conferences, and technical reports
