Job Purpose

To be responsible for assisting the Cameraman in live transmission and recorded events organized by various colleges/departments when requested, as well as setting up and positioning the camera equipment so that it is ready for the Cameraman to use.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Prepare, assemble and set up the TV studio, cameras, and equipment inside the studio and on location.
  2. Ensure the availability of outdoor equipment such as cameras and lighting equipment for outside shooting as scheduled.
  3. Inspect the cameras and equipment to verify that it is in good working order, and ensure to load the camera with film before shooting.
  4. Ensure the readiness of cameras and other photographic equipment that are used to shoot students' projects or required assignments.
  5. Assist in positioning/setting lighting equipment in preparation for shoots.
  6. Ensure all shooting equipment is in good condition before returning it to storage areas after the shoot is complete.
  7. Maintain sensitive equipment such as camera body, lenses, lighting and filters. As well as arrange for repairs or replacements of any camera parts or accessories when needed.
  8. Assist in any media coverage requests and events inside and outside UoS as assigned by the line manager.
  9. Assist students, academic, and non-academic staff members in preparing, filming and shooting scenes for projects such as course projects, final graduation projects, research, marketing material, etc.

Job Specific Accountabilities --
Required Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of camera equipment operation, set-up, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good level of attention to planning, checklists, and detail.
  • Be comfortable setting up and arranging lighting.
  • Be fully conversant with all aspects of sound recording.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Professional approach to time, costs and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications.


Preferred Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • 2-4 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
