Job Purpose

​The Department of English Language and Literature invites applications for an Associate/Full Professor level position in American literature, to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses such as Early American Literature, 20th Century American Literature, Translation Theory, etc. 

The application package should include covering letter (1 page maximum), Statement of Research Interest, and an up to date CV with clear evidence of teaching and research outputs.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1.  Teaching 12 credit hours to undergraduate and postgraduate students per semester,
  2. Contributing to the university core curriculum,
  3. Supervising graduation projects,
  4. Contributing to various committees at the Department, College, and University levels,
  5. Contributing to the research profile of the Department & College through innovative and interdisciplinary research publications,
  6. Contributing or leading activities related to program accreditation and quality assurance.
  7. Being an active member in the department, college, and university communities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Department.
Required Skills -
Desirable Requirements
  1. PhD in American Literature from a recognized and accredited university by the UAE Ministry of Education.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience after obtaining the PhD in American literature.
  3. An evidence of an earned Associate/Full Professor rank from a recognized and an accredited university.
  4. Evidence of relevant research published in Scopus indexed journals.
  5. Experience in teaching English-Arabic Translation courses.
