Financial Analyst

Job Purpose

To support the line manager in all financial planning and analysis activities, and provide critical Financial Planning and Analysis functions including strategic planning, management reporting, performance management, commercial/operational decision support and effective business partnering.

Main accountabilities & expectations

  1. Prepare strategic plans, annual budgets and monthly management reporting, as well as develop internal financial reporting templates for periodic internal financial reports to Finance Department and Top management.
  2. Support the continuous improvement of the University budgeting and forecasting process, and implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements.
  3. Develop key performance indicators to measure both financial and non-financial performance.
  4. Provide financial sustainability analyses at the organizational unit and program/course levels.
  5. Identify business opportunities, formulate strategies to improve financial sustainability (revenue/costs) and allocate resources more strategically.
  6. Assist in the allocation of revenues and costs to the correct cost centers, and audit transactions to make appropriate corrections and entries.
  7. Develop business cases and financial models to support the strategic decision-making process.
  8. Support the curriculum review, provide commercial and financial advice on existing and new programs (e.g. strategic fit, competition, demand, maturity cycle, teaching delivery options, pricing strategy, financial viability)
  9. Drive efficiencies and performance improvement through the evaluation of systems and processes, and contribute to the development of Business Intelligence Tools, dashboards, benchmarks.
  10. Develop an understanding of the financial implications of business activities, communicate complex finance ideas, and answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  11. Challenge business partner assumptions and goals. Provide value add advice to support decision-making.
  12. Prepare various reports, analyses, and other required documentation related to the Business Transformation Section when requested by the line manager.
  13. Ensure the security, integrity, and confidentiality of any incoming or outgoing information/data.


Required Skills --
Desirable Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a relevant discipline.
  • 2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
  • A professional qualification as a chartered accountant or qualified member of an accountancy body.
  • Priority is to UAE Nationals.
