Job Purpose
|
The
Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) is currently recruiting
a postdoctoral fellow in the Emerging Pathogens and Antimicrobial Resistance
Group. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Microbial Genomics/ Bioinformatics
or Ph.D. in Microbiology with extensive experience in Genomics/ Bioinformatics.
Experience in Antimicrobial
Resistance and/or evolution of emerging pathogens is a plus. Laboratory experience
in techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, PCR, qRT-PCR, is preferred.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Manage the day to day running of the Group.
- Manage the ordering, stock taking and budget for the group.
- Perform research projects assigned to him/her by the group members.
- Data analysis and presentation in seminars and conferences, writing scientific manuscripts.
- Train undergrad and postgrad students in the lab.

Required Skills
|
- An in-depth knowledge of microbial and/or viral genomics such as genome annotation, comparative genomics, genome mining.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and conduct computational modeling using advanced bioinformatics tools.
- Metagenomics and transcriptomics data analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable him/her to smoothly interact with staff and faculty at the institute.
- Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Requirements
|
PhD
in Microbiology with extensive experience in Genomics/ Bioinformatics, Ph.D. in
Bioinformatics/Microbial Genomics or a closely related field.
