Preferred qualifications are underlined: 1. PhD in biomedical science with at least 3 years of experience in software engineering OR PhD in Engineering/Computing/Physical science with at least 1 year experience in bioinformatics demonstrated by a publication of at least one article in the field of bioinformatics
2. Experience in research and/or academic settings (published articles in the field of bioinformatics)
3. Strong programming skills: R, Python, Perl, C++, Java, Matlab or other related programming knowledge
4. Demonstrable experience in a UNIX environment
5. Experience in dynamic web development (HTML5, JavaScript)
6. Understanding of biological Data: DNA, RNA and protein sequences, expression and structures
7. Experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing data
8. Data bases: MySQL, Microsoft Access, PostgreSQL, Oracle
9. Experience in the development of private or public biological databases
10. Excellent organizational and documentation skills
11. Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
12. Knowledge of biological data banks (e.g., NCBI, EMBL-EBI, Ensembl, KEGG, ENCODE)
13. Experience in statistical modelling and mathematical tools (e.g. Bayesian statistics, Markov models, simulation models)
