Job Purpose

As the Clinical Tutor and a member of the Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacotherapeutics Section, you are expected to be responsible for training the University of Sharjah's Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students in various clinical settings/specialties while providing clinical pharmacy services to patients of the partner institution, including hospitals and ambulatory clinics.​

Main accountabilities & expectations

1. Review and understand all relevant policies and procedures in order to be able to carry out daily work tasks as expected.
2. Serve as a clinical preceptor for PharmD students, facilitate learning activities, ensure appropriate student assignments, and help enhance clinical learning experiences.
3. Responsible for on-site supervision of students on clinical rotations' training and evaluation of the student's clinical performance
4. Evaluate students' clinical training performance via oral and written exams, quizzes and assignments, and other clinical training activities.
5. Mentor students in the provision of pharmaceutical care.
6. Provide clinical pharmacy services to the host institution (teaching site) and coordinate the activities with the institution and the college of pharmacy.
7. Contribute to the host institution by providing clinical pharmacy service.
8. Assist with college exam and quiz invigilation and student attendance to support academic integrity and student assessment.

10. Participate in college and university events to represent the college and engage with prospective students and the academic community.
11. Ensure that Health and Safety standards are implemented at all times, and report emergencies or any matters of concern immediately to the related personnel in order to take action.
12. Ensure and reinforce the proper use and care of equipment and materials as per the College and University of Sharjah's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
13. Assist in preparing various reports, analyses, and statistics related to the department when requested by the line manager.

14. Complete any other job-related tasks as assigned by ​the line manager within the expected time limit.​

Required Skills

▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
▪ Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
▪ Experience in pharmacy students' clinical training programs.
▪ Fully aware of the clinical requirements, learning objectives, and clinical protocols.
▪ Ability to use a range of delivery techniques to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn and improve their skills.
▪ Ability to facilitate and organize student orientation.
▪ Ability to evaluate students' written clinical assignments.
▪ Ability to evaluate student progress and provide constructive, formative, and summative feedback to students and faculty.​

Desirable Requirements

▪ Minimum of bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
▪ A PharmD degree from a USA-accredited university or equivalent is a MUST.
▪ Hospital or PharmD training experience is a MUST
▪ UAE clinical Pharmacist practice license is preferred.
▪ A Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) would add an advantage.
▪ 2-4 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.

▪ Priority is to UAE Nationals.​
