Job Purpose
|
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the level of Assistant / Associate Professor / Full Professor commencing September 2025.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences with an outstanding record of academic and research performance.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Teach a range of core courses related to environmental health sciences with emphasis on occupational hygiene, occupational health and safety management, occupational hygiene sampling and instrumentation, ergonomics, occupational accidents, occupational hazards, etc. for undergraduate and graduate students
- Supervise senior and graduate students in their graduation projects and dissertations
- Actively engage in research and community service
- Administer students during their field training
- Evaluate students' learning using various methods of assessments
- Advise students on academic matters
- Actively participate in departmental assignments and student activities as assigned by the department chair or college dean.
- Serve on department, faculty and university committees as appointed or elected.

Required Skills
|
Required Skills:
- Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Very good computer skills (especially Microsoft Office applications).
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of the disciplines of Environmental Health Sciences.
- Minimum 2 years' experience of teaching in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
- Solid experience in teaching courses related to environmental health sciences with focus on occupational hygiene, occupational health and safety management, occupational hygiene sampling and instrumentation, ergonomics, occupational accidents, occupational hazards in oil and gas industry.
- Evidence of supervision for MSc OH&S students.
- Evidence of active contributions to his/her field through publishing in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, seminars, and other forums.
- Industrial experience as an occupational hygienist/safety specialist is an asset.
