Artificial Intelligence Specialist

Job Purpose

​As an Artificial Intelligence Specialist, you are expected to provide technical support services and expertise to stakeholders across various colleges and administrative departments at the University of Sharjah in order to meet their system/application needs and requirements by developing programs and software applications in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and Robotics with the goal of supporting interdisciplinary teaching and learning activities.​​
Main accountabilities & expectations

1. Design, develop, and deploy AI models, algorithms, and software solutions to solve complex business problems, when needed in accordance with UoS bylaws and best practices.

2. Provide technical support when setting up hardware/software experiments and demos for the concerned colleges/departments.
3. Analyze user applications programming requests related to overall program goals and system functionality and recommends solutions.
4. Conduct applications tests, evaluate results and modify software/applications to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, and upgrade interfaces when needed.
5. Ensure adherence to ethical standards and compliance with policies related to AI and Robotics development and deployment.
6. Design, develop, and deploy AI and robotic systems that serve the objectives of UoS's AI strategy, ensuring these systems enhance both academic and administrative functions.
7. Maintain and enhance AI systems, implementing improvements based on performance monitoring and feedbacks.
8. Train and support academic faculty and staff in using AI tools for student advising, teaching, and digital transformation topics.
9. Represent the university in external forums and partnerships related to AI and digital transformation.
10. Stay updated on the latest AI advancements, conducting research to explore new algorithms, tools, and methodologies.

Required Skills
▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
▪ Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
▪ Proficiency in popular coding languages, including Python, Java, and C++.
▪ Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics principles.
▪ Practical experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
▪ Practical experience with test-driven development (TDD).
▪ Practical experience in applying AI/ML, data analytics, data science, and cybersecurity concepts.
▪ Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.
▪ Ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly to non-technical users.
▪ Ability to effectively elicit requirements and explain technical solutions to diverse audiences.
▪ Strong attention to detail.​
Desirable Requirements

​

▪ Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related discipline.
▪ 8-10 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.
▪ Professional qualifications in software development with C++ or Python are required.
▪ A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related discipline would add an advantage.
▪ Priority is to UAE Nationals.​
