Job Purpose

Corrosion Technician / Carrying out electrochemical techniques for preparing and studying the efficiency of corrosion inhibitors for metals in various media including concrete and cement-based materials, as well as collecting exposed samples from the various sites.

Main accountabilities & expectations

The major responsibilities include:

  • Collecting exposed samples from various sites (desert, and marine locations).
  • Performing electrochemical and gravimetric testing methods for calculating corrosion inhibitor efficiency.
  • Data collection and corrosion monitoring.
  • Corrosion laboratory studying and preparing organic corrosion inhibitors.
  • Performance of environmental exposure of metallic and non-metallic materials specimens in accordance with ASTM.
  • Performing corrosion studies on metals embedded in concrete exposed to various aggressive and corrosive environments.

Required Skills
Preferred Qualification & Experience
  • B.Sc. degree in corrosion or related discipline
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a reputable corrosion laboratory
  • Expertize in electrochemical and corrosion methods of analysis
  • Very good knowledge in using laboratory techniques for surface characterization (XRD, SEM, STM, AFM, etc.)
  • Good written and spoken English is required
