Job Purpose
|
- Providing professional services in mental health, social and academic support for students with disabilities within a multicultural environment.
- Providing professional academic support services for students with disabilities within a multicultural environment
- Ensuring student accessibility
- Taking part in student and faculty's activities and programs on subjects related to disabilities and legitimate rights and duties
- Overseeing trainee students on and off campus as well as postgraduate students (Master and PhD)

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Preparing professional advisory programs tackling academic, mental health, social and service-related problems of students with disabilities.
- Implementing psychological tests and case studies as per a rigorous methodology
- Taking part in student admission interviews to determine eligibility to receive disability services
- Helping students understand their legal rights and duties
- Supporting students to develop their self-advocacy skills
- Taking part in facilitating communication among the college, the work team and the students with disabilities regarding accessibility, adaptation and providing consultation and assistance in problem solving
- Communicating with parents appropriately in a manner supporting student independence
- Observing privacy in all means of verbal and written communication
- Preparing and updating a database and paper documents
- Keeping abreast of changes of laws regarding accessibility
- Organizing and taking part in student activities and training programs (summer training – requirements of new students – career qualification)
- Developing teaching material for the faculty dealing with students with disabilities or mental disorders (chronic disorders – epilepsy)
- Supporting the students to receive equal opportunities regarding representation at student association and activities
- Observing confidentiality and adhering to applicable regulations and bylaws
- Safeguarding the Center's assets
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the center's director/ the line manager within the scope of their authorities and for the public interest.

Required Skills

Desirable Requirements
|
- Bachelor /master degree/ Psychology advising – Psychology – Special Education
- Experience in working with students with special needs and psychological disorders (3 years)
- Experience in the interpretation of psychological and educational tests
|
