Job Purpose
|
To provide a specialized professional technical supervision related to
the secure, safe, and competent usage of the College’s teaching laboratories by
Students, Faculty, and other users authorized by the College, support the
department's faculty and administration when requested.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Provides professional technical assistant to Students, Faculty, and other authorized Laboratory users for the safe and secure usage and operation of all required Laboratory equipment.
- Provides effective technical assistance in preparing the Laboratories by ensuring that the required equipment is available, functional, properly assembled, and safe to use.
- In coordination and liaison with the Technicians / other Laboratory Engineers reporting to him/her, ensures that the laboratory equipment is properly maintained, according to the maintenance standards, and that equipment and other laboratory material is properly kept and secured from damage or loss.
- Provides assistance to Faculty involved in Laboratory teaching in conducting the experiments and projects that require usage of the laboratories.
- Participates in upgrading laboratories and the updating course experiments' manuals.
- Grades laboratory reports and students' homework's.
- Maintains an inventory of laboratory equipment and other material to ensure that there is enough stock to guarantee the proper functioning of the laboratories at all time.
- Periodically prepares laboratory orders for equipment, consumable material, furniture, etc. by providing lists of required items with proper specifications.
- Periodically prepares reports and statistics about the Laboratories usage and utilization for his/her immediate manager.
- May perform other duties related to the nature of his/her job as assigned by the department head.

Required Skills

Desirable Requirements
|
- B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Self directed, motivated and has ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Experience in working in an academic or a higher education with similar settings.
