Job Purpose

Responsible for students' clinical training at the College of Dental Medicine, development and the organization of assessment.

Provide high quality student-focused tutoring and learning opportunities.

Main accountabilities & expectations
  1. Ensure that clinical orientation occurs on the first day of a clinical experience, and conduct tutorial sessions to clinical students whenever needed.
  2. Create learning opportunities and develop approaches that improve the clinical experience for students.
  3. Allocate a realistic clinical workload which allows students to learn and practise their skills in accordance with the philosophy of the curriculum.
  4. Conduct student clinical training and ensure students receive required instruction and/or supervision by the clinical site preceptors during the training hours at the clinical site.
  5. Handle and manage student internship program in the college during the summer course, as well as carry out regular clinical tutor duties.
  6. Maintain student attendance and other detailed records of student progress, which are sighted by and signed by both student and the tutor.
  7. Complete both formative and summative assessment data as per the clinical assessment requirements for each clinical course.
  8. Adhere to UOS procedures relating to health and safety, and quality management.
  9. Adhere to College's procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials.
  10. Report any incidents relating to students' health and safety issues immediately.
  11. Use safety equipment and wear protective uniform as allocated while carrying out duties as required.
  12. Keep inventory lists, prepare required lab material and equipment purchasing orders, and receive any new lab equipment.
  13. Organize and participate in clinical assessments and examinations including OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
  14. Assist in organizing student's field visits and training in clinical and community health locations.
  15. Complete tasks as assigned by department Chair within the expected time limit.

Preferred Qualification & Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Dental Medicine & Surgery (MBBS)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
