Job Purpose
|
As Director of Information Technology Center you are expected to lead campus-wide information technology planning, management, and development for the University of Sharjah, ensure that the University's technology solutions meet business needs, and oversee the resolutions of network security issues to ensure IT solutions and services are accessible to all staff members and students.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
1. Develop the ITC's workflows and procedures in alignment with the university's policies and regulations and the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education in order to achieve UOS's vision and mission. 2. Direct the effective delivery and proper upgrades of systems, networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes to ensure IT' 's smooth operations and availability. 3. Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information; develop and introduce processes, procedures, and systems to ensure the cyber security and confidentiality of all UOS data, identify security vulnerabilities, and eliminate any data security threats. 4. Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss. 5. Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs. As well as identify and recommend new technology solutions by identifying new opportunities in order to improve technology delivery. 6. Manage the hiring process for the department, including preparing requests to recruit forms, selection, and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected. 7. Lead the development of the IT Center's KPIs and be the point of contact between the department and the Office of Strategic Planning in order to report on the department's progress and prepare the necessary action plans. As well as ensure that each team member has a good understanding of the department's KPIs and how their roles can impact their achievement.
8. Manage the department's budget, track expenditures, and ensure that adequate provision is made for all activities and are within the limits of the budget.

Required Skills
|
▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
▪ Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
▪ Comprehensive experience in developing management information and communications systems.
▪ Ability to lead initiatives to change the structure, system, or workflows of the university to support the UOS strategic plan effectively.
▪ Ability to solve real-world technology challenges.
▪ Ability to evaluate new technologies for competitive advantage and apply new principles to a high-tech organization.
▪ Excellent knowledge of the latest technology for IT systems and management.

Desirable Requirements
|
▪ Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a relevant IT Discipline.
▪ More than 15 Years of UAE experience in a leadership position preferably in higher education institutions.
▪ A Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
▪ Priority to UAE Nationals.
