Job Purpose

The Department of Information Systems within the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) at the University of Sharjah invites applications from highly qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position in Information Systems commencing in Fall 2026.

The Department of Information Systems is committed to excellence in teaching, research and services to the university and community. It runs BSc Business Information Systems, Minor Data Analytics, MSc in Digital Transformation, MSc Data Analytics, and MSc Business Analytics programs.

Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth and visibility of the department, college, and university.

The application package should include a cover letter, a detailed resume, a brief description of current/future research activities, teaching philosophy, and courses taught. English is the language of instruction and communication.

Main accountabilities & expectations

  1. Teaching courses at both undergraduate and graduate level.
  2. Supervising postgraduate students' research projects and theses (Masters/PhD).
  3. Contributing to the development of courses and programs (both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels) offered by the Department of Information Systems and accreditation especially ABET Accreditation and CAA of UAE.
  4. Performing all assigned administrative tasks by the program, department, college, and university.
  5. Contributing to the research activities and initiating research projects leading to effective publications in journals with high ranking and patents.
  6. Mentoring and advising students at all levels.
  7. Mentoring and advising junior faculty (if/when applicable).

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related fields (From a reputable and internationally recognized University). 
  2. Experience in smart information systems, artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital transformation, and industry engagement, or allied domains.
  3. Demonstrate a solid research record of research publications in refereed scholarly international journals with good impact factors.
  4. Industrial or postdoctoral experience is desirable. 
  5. Have demonstrated effective teaching experience in the fields mentioned above or closely related fields at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  6. Experience in supervising Senior Design Projects, Master, and PhD Theses/Dissertations.
  7. Interest and experience in bridging links with industry and the community are also expected.​
