Job Purpose

A post-doctoral position is available in the Iron Biology Research group at the Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS), University of Sharjah for applicants with training and experience in the general area of Cellular and Molecular Biology.  Appointment as a post-doctoral research associate at RIMHS is for one year subject to renewal based on performance.

Main accountabilities & expectations

The desired candidate will be working on a major project related to iron metabolism in estrogen-responsive cancers.  In vivo and in vitro cellular and molecular approaches will be used to characterize the role of estrogen in iron metabolism in cancer cells.   The identification of unique molecular signatures that may associate with iron metabolism in iron-overloaded cancers is part of this project as well.   

He/she will also be involved in the training and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, the supervision of a lab technician, the preparation of manuscripts and research proposals, the preparation of conference abstracts, posters and presentations, and other such activities. ​

Desirable Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology
  • At least two years postdoctoral fellowship experience from an internationally respected institution
  • Extensive Lab. bench experience in cancer biology with strong in vitro and in vivo skills
  • Strong evidence-based publication record in international journals
