Job Purpose

​The Sharjah Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time research assistant position for the Health Promotion Research Group (HPRG). We are looking to appoint a suitable candidate with training, experience in public health research. The successful candidate will work in a highly multidisciplinary research environment consisting of public health researchers. The appointed candidate should hold at least a master’s degree in public health/biostatistics or a closely related field with at least two years of independent research experience. The candidate is also expected to have expertise in statistical data analysis and data management. Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluency in English and the ability to work independently and together with a team are essential. The appointed  candidate will support and coordinate the ongoing research projects as required and coordinated by the research group coordinator.
Main accountabilities & expectations

The responsibilities of the fulltime RA will include and will not be limitedto:

-         Manage the day-to day running of the HPRG research group

-         Collaborate and work effectively with HPRG group members  to ensure the timely delivery of key project milestones and high-quality research output.

·         Conduct literature review using evidence-based approach.

·         Conduct field visits for data collection activities from multiple community sites.

·         Manage, clean, and analyze data using SPSS and/ or other statistical software.

·         Assist in writing research manuscript and reports.

-        Assist in writing research and grants proposals.

Required Skills --
Desirable Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health/ or biostatistics.
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, statistics, and any other health related field.
