Job Purpose
|
To supervise, maintain and upgrade the laboratory facilities under the designated college, support faculty and students who are using them, as well as safely test the labs and assure proper functioning of facilities, materials and equipment.
|
|
Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Provide technical support to students and instructors in lab hardware/software peripherals and in the use of mixed labs facilities and devices. As well as assist and support senior students with their final graduation projects.
- Prepare experiment manuals and lab safety plans by gathering information from previous experiments to ensure high levels of safety.
- Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and maintain related software, hardware and lab peripheral devices each semester and when necessary to ensure compliance with license agreements and copyright legislation.
- Supervise various periodic upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting activities in the lab(s).
- Maintain lab(s) equipment by troubleshooting and repairing it to ensure its continuous performance, and maintains nuclear equipment to ensure that they meet safety standards.
- Manage and supervise lab(s) facilities by making sure that the equipment and machines are in good working order and recommend improvements as appropriate to maintain standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Supervise lab sessions, lab examinations and assist in grading student lab reports, as well as maintain and update student records.
- Maintain and update laboratory inventory by requesting laboratory equipment, consumables and furniture as per the required specifications.
- Assist faculty members in various course activities such as practical classes, student assignments, grading, attendance, exam invigilation, etc. when requested.
- Ensure that safety standards and protocols are followed all the time in the lab(s), and implement safety training for both faculty and students.

Required Skills
|
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
- Familiarity with necessary programs and/or computer software.
- Good experience using relevant laboratory equipment, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and operation techniques.
- Project and time management skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks and produce reports under strict guidelines.
- High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
- Inquisitive mind and passion for excellence.
- Flexibility and ability to function effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Requirements
|
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Engineer or a relevant discipline.
- 6-8 years of UAE experience in similar role preferably in higher education institutions.
- Priority is to UAE Nationals.
