Job Purpose
|
The
Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Health Sciences of the
University of Sharjah invites applications to the position of Chairperson of
the Department. Although, strong applicants at the Associate Professor level
will be considered, priority will be given to candidates at the Full Professor
rank. All applicants must demonstrate extensive experience in teaching,
research, and administration in the Medical Laboratory Sciences field.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Manage all the department functions towards excellence in research, teaching, and professional service;
- Articulate a clear strategic direction for the department in alignment with the strategic direction of the college;
- Communicate effectively with all departmental members and other college and university stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient implementation of departmental functions;
- Undertake teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs including supervision of student projects and seminars, and supervision of clinical placements;
- Carry out independent research and other scholarly activities, and obtain research grants;
- Participate in community, professional and/or consultancy services;
- Participate in various committees and taskforces related to their position, and represent the college in various university committees;
- Undertake additional administrative duties as assigned by the Dean of the College

Desirable Requirements
|
- A Ph.D. degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences or Biomedical Sciences,
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a well-established academic system,
- An established high-ranked scholarly track record confirmed by high quality published research,
- A consolidated track of acquired research grants,
- Experience in curriculum development, budgeting resources, and faculty/staff evaluation;
- A proven track record in leadership and successful administration;
- Familiarity with the accreditation process; and
- The leadership skills necessary to manage the department towards excellence in research, teaching, and professional service, as well as the ability to articulate a clear vision for the department.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural work environment.
