Job Purpose
|
· The Sharjah Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) is currently recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in the Drug Delivery Research Group.
The candidate will serves as Postdoctoral Scientist at the Research institute of Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) / University of Sharjah. He/she is expected to plan, execute, and publish quality research work related to novel drug delivery systems with focus on nanodelivery, drug targeting, mucosal and transdermal delivery. Solid dosage forms' formulation, manufacturing, and quality testing, animal handling, and executing PK studies are highly preferred.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
Design and execute research components within the framework of the major projects at the Sharjah Institute for Medical Research. The applicant will also assist in supervising Research Assistants and graduate students in the group. Job responsibilities include but is not limited to:
- Design and implementation of research projects aimed to develop novel drug delivery systems.
- Engage in team-based research.
- Data collection, analysis and interpretation.
- Conduct animal studies involving administration of various drug delivery systems, imaging, collecting blood samples and extracting tissues, and analysis.
- Execute the main bulk of the experimental research work in the lab.
- Use, maintain and troubleshooting of instruments used in the drug delivery research lab and related equipment available at RIMHS that are essential for his/her work.
- Get the necessary training to use new equipment needed for his/her work. Organize and present his/her data to the group members on regular basis.
- Contribute in designing future projects and participate in writing grant proposals and high quality research manuscripts.
- Implement and participate in training programs for the laboratory staff and students.
- Supervise and guide students working under his/her supervision.
- Supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate students in the research group.
- Manage emergency situations and chemical spills according to the standard lab protocols.
- Assist in administrative tasks, preparation of applications, reports and presentations related to the research group.
- Prepare samples and reagents; calibrate instruments; and perform quality control checks; system checks; and document and maintain organized records.
- Contribute to research activities at SIMR

Required Skills

Desirable Requirements
|
Postdoctoral- PhD in
pharmaceutics or related fields with at least 2-3 years of postdoctoral
training in a well-established international institute and more than five
original research papers published in high quality journals in the field of
pharmaceutics/biopharmaceutics/drug delivery/pharmaceutical technology, where
the applicant is the first or corresponding author.
