Job Purpose
|
The Department of Applied Biology at UOS has a vacant position at the assistant professor level in the field of Molecular Virology starting Fall 2023. The candidate should have a Ph.D. from a reputable academic institution in Molecular Virology and a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience. The candidates should have a strong research publication in the areas of molecular virology, biodiversity, viral pathogens of human, animals, and plants, and teaching experience at the university level. The candidate should has a strong background on viral infections using in vitro and in vivo systems, experience on performing and evaluating drug resistance and susceptibility. Successful candidates are expected to contribute effectively to a research group in the field and to carry out teaching of diverse biotechnology courses, such as Immunology and serology, Biotechnology in medicine, Selected topics in biotechnology, as well as general biology and to contribute effectively to build a research group in the Molecular Virology area.

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- Contribute effectively to carry out teaching of diverse theoretical and practical biology/biotechnology courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels such as Immunology and serology, Biotechnology in medicine, Selected topics in biotechnology, as well as general biology.
- Conduct high quality research work in the biotechnology area & contribute effectively to build research groups in biotechnology.
- Secure external and internal research funds.
- Provide academic and professional advising to students.
- Contribute to curriculum and program development.
- Contribute in the academic assessment processes.
- Contribute to community services.
