Job Purpose
|
The Sharjah Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) is currently recruiting a motivated and ambitious Post-doc in human genetics/Bioinformatics to work with the Rare genetic disorders and immune dysregulation (RGDI) Group. The candidate should have a strong background in human genetics and bioinformatics as well as molecular biological research with applications in Immunology. He should be strongly interested in pursuing computational projects, as well as in combination with wet-lab research.
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in human genetics/bioinformatics with extensive experience in Immunology, immune dysregulation, and bioinformatics.
Previous experiences in computational genomics (whole genome sequencing, metagenomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, etc.) and NGS bioinformatic analysis tools is a must.
Must possess strong self-motivation and responsibility, strong work ethic, initiative, management skill, critical thinking ability and strong written and communication skills.
Must have experience in wet-lab research (molecular biology, cell culture techniques and tissue processing, flow cytometry, western blot and ELISA assay).

Main accountabilities & expectations
|
- To lead human genetics projects and employ existing bioinformatic analysis tools for whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics and epigenomics.
- To develop new bioinformatic analysis tools as needed to analyze data
- To improve experimental design and perform basic pathway and network analysis.
- To conduct experiments involving molecular biology techniques, NGS, library construction, and data generation.
- To prepare project proposals, present results at meetings, and publish results in scientific manuscripts.
- To provide bioinformatic analysis expertise to colleagues
- Training/supervising students and project participants.

Required Skills
|
· Previous publication in human genetics and computational genomics (whole genome sequencing, metagenomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, etc.).
· A particular knowledge for single cell and spatial transcriptomics technology.
- Familiarity with droplet-based and plate-based single cell assays and platforms (sci-Seq, InDrop, Drop-Seq, SMART-seq, 10x Genomics, Rhapsody, Fluidigm, Dolomite Bio, etc.)
- Experience with animal handling and establishing animal models.

Desirable Requirements
|
PhD
degree in human genetics/or computational biology, bioinformatics, or a similar
field. Strong NGS computational coding experience (Python and R) and extant NGS
bioinformatic analysis tools, experience with statistical approaches for
high-dimensional data analysis.
